#12 Rollyo

What can I say? Registered - very easy. Only issue I had with this is username. I have been using the same login/email address & password for each of the "things", so I didn't forget, which has worked up until now. That my "username is visable to all is a bit of a concern as I am trying to stay as anonymous as possible.
I put in a variety of searches into this one, but like some of the earlier "things" I found most of the hits were american, and not necessarily what I as looking for. When I attempted to sign in a second time, my registration had disappeared, so had to do it all again - frustrating!!!!! This time I was able to create a much more anonymous user name, which was an advantage.
I added some of my favourite sites to create my own searchrolls as well as some generic search topics.

#11 LibraryThing

This was really easy & lots of fun. What a wonderful program.
While searching, I found some really old titles (that are still favourites) which I did not expect to find. I have added 11 titles so far, more to follow.
That there are pictures of the book covers is fantastic.
Use the link on the right to search. For those people who know me, won't be suprised to find all the Harry Potter books there, but what else is there? You will need to search to find out........

#10 Playing around with Image Generators

I am have an absolute ball with this one and it was EASY!

On the Generatorblog site, I found a harry potter doll maker http://elouai.com/chibi/harrypotter/icons.php
I have created lots of different characters which I have save to my usb stick to use for future HP activities. Here are 2 of Harry's quidditch team mates, can you guess who they are?

Reflectionmaker was also a lot of fun http://www.letterjames.com/start.php?mod=image-personalization

Also had a play with FD Toys http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/ I put together a fantastic calender of some special photos - one photo for each month. Great Christmas present idea for the grandparents.

#9 News feeds

I have finally worked this one out. (Only took about 7 hours!!!!!!)
It is showing at the bottom of my blog - as I still can't seem to be able to change the page layout of my blog page. (I think I need help from Webgurl.)

Feedster - Very American content & did not search keywords very well. I was looking for Harry Potter podcasts (which I know exist) but came up with some other totally irrelevant feeds instead. So I changed my keyword search to "Australian news" - and found a few. So I thought OK this is would not create a widget for me, so on to the next one.

Technorati - Need yet another login & password, so went on the next one.

Topix.net - This one has good keyword searching & good Australian content, so this is the one I used. See the bottom of my blog for the " news headlines".

#8 RSS

I created my bloglines account. It was rather easy, just like creating my blog. Then it got a little harder - I could not locate the share tab. So not to sure of how & if bloglines/blogger has allowed others access.

I set up a rss feed, so now if you go almost to the bottom of my blog you can click on the bloglines logo and hopefully (if it worked) see what interesting feeds I have subscribed to......

I saw this beautiful photo on one of the feeds. It is a new star system found by the Hubble Telescope called "Jewel Box". I'm sure you can see why.

#7 Technology

What is technology?
Almost everything around us has had some form of technology
to either create, design, build or uses it.
Yes we have many forms of technology around us all the time.
The computer hardware and software we use to run our libraries, the photocopiers, fax machines, telephones and obvious techologies.
But what about the books in our libraries? Are they not written on word processors, computer designed graphics for the covers which may include the use of digital photographs, printed on huge machines run by computers, bound, packaged & couriered by other computer run machines.

In our society it is hard to find something that has not been effected by "technology". Plants, I hear you say, well most of those available in the nurseries have been genetically modified to produce stronger, more viable plants. Lots of these developments have used one form of techology or another along the way.
It is very hard to escape techology, so why should we not make the most of what is available. Using technology to help both ourselves & our customers can only benefit us all, from something as simple as searching the catalogue to creating web pages for promotion and everything in between as well as outside these boundaries.
